A digital event in Southeast Asia

With keynotes from sustainability pioneers

With great pleasure we joined the digital Living Beauty event hosted by our brand partner Imaji Nata Kirana. As the window coverings expert in Indonesia, Imaji Nata Kirana aims to be more thoughtful about what they add to this changing world and take their responsibility when it comes to their ecological footprint. ‘‘We want to foster the potential to create a planet that provides a home for all life’’, says founder and initiator of the Living Beauty event Jenfilia Arifin.

With this in mind, Imaji Nata Kirana invited key note speakers from all across the world to inspire the attendees with their vision and contribution in making the world a better and more beautiful place. With more than 100 attendees, from interior designers to architects and sustainable agencies, the theme around sustainability was highlighted from different angles.

Coulisse experts from the Design Studio and Marketing department explained how sustainability is intertwined in the new textile collection for 2021 and beyond by choosing materials that can stand the test of time rather than the fast-fashion. A great palette of recycled plains, textures, nature and screen qualities were presented, all marked with the new EcoLuxury label.

Next to that, Tijmen Sissing, founder of the global Trashpackers platform notified the attendees with his mission to create more awareness for the plastic pollution problem and inspire others to take a stand and lead the change towards a more ecofriendly planet by cleaning up trash.

A special presentation came from Kynan Tegar and Herkulanus Sutomo, both part of the Dyak Iban community in West-Kalimantan. The Dyak Iban community, living in the Sungai Utik area, are dedicated to protect the forest and maintain all the good nature has to offer. As an extension of the work carried out by Imaji Nata Kirana, Jenfilia’s father started the YWCAN organization. The YWCAN organization supports this indigenous community by guarding their ancient culture and rituals. In that way, they want to ensure that the forest remains protected and that a living environment for the next generation is preserved. In 2019, the Dyak Iban community in Sungai Utik received the Equator Prize Award (New York, USA) as a great honor for all their contributions.

The Living Beauty event was closed by Indonesian fashion designer Chitra Subyakto. Inspired by the elements found in nature, she underlines the beauty of conscious fashion. Her 2021 collection will be manufactured with yarns made of waste originated from the textile industry.

We look back at an inspiring event with imposing stories and solutions. Our design experts are happy to help you creating your sustainable textile collection. Are you interested in their advice? Please contact us. Let’s make an impact together!
