Coulisse was founded in 1992 in Christiaan Roetgering’s apartment in Enter, the Netherlands. From day one, it was a true family business - built on trust, long-term thinking, and a hands-on spirit. That close-knit foundation shaped our values and the way we still work today. By 1998, we had expanded to the Far East, forming our first international partnerships. In 2002, we exhibited at our first R+T trade fair in Stuttgart and established in-house engineering - setting the stage for the product innovation and independence that continue to define us.
This was a decade of building not just products, but identity. In 2003, Coulisse emerged as a brand with a clear vision for design, innovation, and global ambition. We established a new headquarters and warehouse in Enter, forming the operational backbone of our business in the Netherlands. In 2011, we opened Coulisse Americas in Miami our first regional office and a major step toward international expansion. These locations became key hubs for growth, supported by ongoing investments in automation and the development of our own fabric collections.
This was a decade of acceleration. In 2015 and 2016, Coulisse received WCMA Product Awards for innovation, including recognition for our Pull Motor and Screen Essentials collections. In 2018, we launched Motionblinds - our smart motorization brand and reached €100 million in turnover. Another WCMA award followed in 2019 for child-safe Twin Pull. By 2022, Eve Motionblinds received global attention, earning a Best of IFA award and a Best of CES award. That same year, we opened a new office in Sydney and expanded Coulisse Americas with upgraded facilities and experience centers - marking a new phase of smart growth and global reach.
Coulisse entered a new era of smart growth. In 2023, we advanced in robotics and B2B automation and were honored with a CES Innovation Award for our Eve Motionblinds Upgrade Kit, alongside a WCMA Award for the Twin Pull system. That same year, we acquired Lienesch BV and Sensuna GmbH - bringing expert fabric production fully in-house. In 2024, we opened a new logistics center at the Coulisse Campus and received two R+T Innovation Awards for Adaptive Shading and Smart Frame. We also took home six WCMA Product Awards across multiple categories, including the Judges’ Award for Matter-over-Thread motors. This period marks our most ambitious transformation yet - where design, technology, and smart logistics come together to power the future.
