Top 7 highlights of IFA for the smart window covering business

Header Image

We are still reeling from a thrilling week at the IFA 2022 smart tech event at Messe Berlin last week between 2 – 6 September. Joining industry-leaders, we showcased our smart window covering concept Eve Motionblinds to tech-lovers and industry peers across the world. The enthusiasm for Eve Motionblinds was overwhelming and we are truly grateful and flattered to have been the first and only smart window covering brand to exhibit at the event along with our partner Eve Systems.
But what were the highlights of this smart home event of the year? Here’s our top 7 take aways that every window covering professional should know about:

1. Everyone was buzzing about Matter

It was all about Matter – the upcoming smart home standard that is going to deliver full interoperability of smart home devices, regardless of the smart home system being used. Currently Eve Motionblinds works with Apple Home, but thanks to the forward-thinking design it is ready for Matter. This means that once Matter rolls out this fall, Eve Motionblinds will be the first smart blinds to support Apple HomeKit but also Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings and many more.

2. Best of IFA 2022 Award goes to Eve - making Eve Motionblinds the next essential device

Eve Motionblinds motors, along with other Eve products, are among the first devices in the world to be ready for the future of smart home with Matter, which earned multiple "Best of IFA 2022" awards by CNN Underscored, MUO and Android Authority. With so many smart devices to choose from, the one device that has taken the media by storm is Eve Motionblinds. Our smart window blind concept is the next essential device that everyone wants and needs. The next smart home must-have to really complete a smart home. Read all the great media coverage here.

3. Privacy and simplicity truly matter

We are so proud and privileged to have been the first smart window covering to exhibit at IFA. Why us? Because thanks to Thread and Matter, Eve Motionblinds will be the only smart window covering that can talk to all your smart home devices without the need of a bridge – therefore no cloud, no registration, no tracking. Simplicity is key to the design in both style and use. The fact that the motors are cable-free to install and USB-C rechargeable is also welcomed by smart home fanatics, as is the possibility of manual pull control.

4. More Eve must-haves

Our partner Eve Systems, who co-developed Eve Motionblinds with us, had even more incredible smart home gadgets on show. At the Eve booth you could see how our Eve Motionblinds can connect and talk to Eve secure cameras, wireless motion sensors and connected weather stations. With all smart devices talking to each other, you will always ensure your home is safe, comfortable and energy efficient.

5. Did someone say something about energy saving?

Of course, this is a hot topic right now. As Samsung says, “A smarter life, a more energy efficient future”. We have to agree. That’s why we design our smart technology and fabric collections to create a comfortable indoor climate and save energy at the same time. Just let Eve Motionblinds talk to your thermostats and weather stations and do the hard work for you.

6. Making people’s lives better

Like many other smart home brands at IFA, Eve Motionblinds was also highlighting safety, convenience and sustainability. But it’s not just buzzwords to us. It is the reason we do what we do. We make window coverings that enhance people’s lives. And if we can do this using recyclable materials or producing them in a responsible way then it makes us even happier.

7. And hats off to....

Obviously, Samsung. The entire Samsung SmartThings building was just amazing - from its Bespoke Home area to the Galaxy ZFold/Flip4 zone. Also, the Siemens Urban Life Park. We appreciate when design meets intelligence, and this brand certainly knows what it is doing when premiering its new iQ700 range.
