Here's the mechanism in plain terms: the nanomesh sprayed onto the fabric is made mostly of water and a small amount of natural minerals. When daylight or indoor light hits that mineral coating, it triggers a chemical reaction on the surface. That reaction breaks apart the molecular bonds of pollutants in the air, VOCs, bacteria, odor molecules, turning them into harmless water vapor and salts.
No electricity drives it. No filter traps anything. The light itself is the only input the reaction needs, which is why it keeps working for as long as the fabric is exposed to light, without a power source or a maintenance schedule.
"People assume something invisible must be complicated. It isn't. Light hits the coating, the coating reacts, pollutants break down. That's the entire process. The complexity is in getting the coating right, not in the concept itself."
— Joaquín Piserra, CEO, PURETi EU
Nanotechnology, the broader scientific field Absolute Pure is built on, has been recognized by the Nobel Prize in Chemistry multiple times, most recently in 2023. It's a field with decades of established research behind it, not an emerging or unproven area of science. The specific photocatalytic process Absolute Pure uses draws on this same body of nanoscience, applying it to a surface, window covering fabric, that's already present in nearly every commercial interior.
"Nanotechnology has moved well beyond the lab. It's now recognized at the highest level of science, and it's already part of daily life in ways most people don't realize. Bringing it to window covering fabric is a natural next step, not a leap."
— Joaquín Piserra, CEO, PURETi EU
Absolute Pure is backed by verified, independent testing. Fraunhofer IST in Germany, one of the most recognized names in materials testing, confirmed NOx removal under ISO 22197-1. UCA in Spain verified VOC reduction, and AINIA in Spain tested antimicrobial activity per ISO 27447:2019. The treatment is also REACH compliant, meeting the EU's own standard for chemical safety. Most competing photocatalytic treatments only perform well on light or white surfaces, while Absolute Pure works just as well on dark and colored fabrics.
"We don't take performance claims at face value, even from our exclusive technology partner. Every result we put behind Absolute Pure is tied to a named lab and a named standard. That's the level of scrutiny we'd want if we were the ones specifying it."
— Luuk Roetgering, Account Manager at Coulisse
Pureti's technology has already been applied across approximately 20 million square meters of surfaces worldwide, with more than 50 exclusive international OEM partners and reference partners including NASA, Hilton, and Ford.
One of the clearest examples is Aunde Germany, where 23,000 buses were treated to reduce odors, bacteria, and buildup from high foot traffic. That kind of high-frequency, high-traffic use is a demanding real-world test in its own right, proof that the underlying technology holds up outside of controlled lab conditions, at a scale that goes well beyond a single building or pilot project.
