The official Matter launch event just took place at the extraordinary Capital C building in Amsterdam. With keynotes and panel discussions, it’s been an incredibly informative day. Especially the demo area where Eve previewed Eve Motionblinds in action with other smart devices that have been cleverly designed to work with Matter. All easily controlled by Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and Apple Home.
Matter certified smart devices can talk to each other, either over Wi-Fi or the newer protocol Thread. Making the smart home faster and more responsive. Not to mention an easier set up process and a common language that’s local to your home and does not rely on the cloud. At the moment, Matter devices will be limited to smart light bulbs and fixtures, smart plugs and switches, smart thermostats and other HVAC controls, smart shades, smart sensors, connected locks, and media devices. Opening up the smart home world in general and particularly the smart window covering market. Now it’s no longer just for smart home lovers, it’s for everyone.
